Basava Dharma PeetaKudalasangama

“With the birth and awakening of the Basava Dharma Peeta,a fresh benchmark of human dignity springs forth in collective joy;as the living imprint of Basava egalitarian path shines over all humanity, how could the hearts of the world fail to turn to his way,O Sarvajna?”

Established at Kudalasangama in 1992, Basava Dharma Peeta exists to proclaim Basava’s teaching and equality. Lingananda Swamiji, Mate Mahadevi and Mate Gangadevi have led this tradition without pause as its pontiffs.

The word that Kalyana is Kailasahas found its living grace:Kalyana in the inner self,Kalyana in the outer world.

Kalyana Parva is a religious gathering that unites everyone, without distinction of caste, creed or sect. Through its many programmes, the Shunya Peeta and the 108-foot statue of Basava, it carries the Sharana culture of the 12th century to the present generation.

Devotion born of the sacred gaze was realized through Basava;the wisdom born of shared union was realized through Basava.

The “Basava Gangotri Ashrama” at Kumbalagodu, Bengaluru, is run by the Vishwa Kalyana Mission. Basava Tattva camps and Basavotsavas are held here, and an orphanage and a home for the elderly serve the public. A magnificent 112-foot statue of Basavanna is under construction.

Guru Basavanna, founder of the Lingayat faith

Guru Basavanna holding the Ishtalinga among the Sharanas — Kayakave Kailasa

Kudalasangama, where Basavanna studied and where he merged with the divine, is the holiest centre of faith for Lingayats. For the all-round development of this sacred place, the Basava Dharma Peeta Trust was founded under the guidance of the late Lingananda Mahaswamiji and the late Mate Mahadevi. On 26 acres of land the Trust has built a great matha called ‘Mahamane’, with the Ganalinga Mantapa — a centre of special spiritual power — the Basava Dhyana Mantapa, a Sharanalaya and 20 magnificent Sharana mantapas. Devotees are invited to visit on the auspicious occasions of their lives, to offer worship and dasoha, and to give thanks to the Dharmaguru.
